The presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) for the 2012 general elections has stressed that the party is poised to wrestle the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Constituency parliamentary seat.
Addressing constituency executives, party members and faithful(s) after the parliamentary primaries in the constituency at the weekend, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom affirmed that the party will do all in its ability to win the seat, maintaining that “goodwill was on the party’s side in the constituency.”
The PPP standard bearer said this in a statement issued at the weekend which was signed by the party’s Communications Director, Richmond Keelson.
According to the statement, Dr Nduom challenged the party’s executives to work with great sense of discipline and ensure that strong organisation is put into place to make winning a sure thing.
“I am calling on our executives and the membership to work diligently to make KEEA a strong pillar for the party,” Dr Nduom urged.
Dr Nduom also asked party members in the constituency to assist in preparing for the launching of the party’s 2012 national campaign at Elmina on Saturday, June 2nd.
The primaries also witnessed the election of Lawyer Kojo Annan who polled 53% of the 1,180 votes cast to beat Mr John Sterling who scored 47% of the valid votes cast.
After embracing each other, the two aspirants vowed to work together to win the KEEA seat for the PPP.
Lawyer Annan also thanked the entire membership and Mr Sterlin for the decency shown and demonstrating that by not allowing the aspirants to put polling agents at the voting points, tension was eliminated, something he felt all Ghana could learn from.
The statement further disclosed that the party has registered nearly 4,000 paid card-carrying members in the constituency and the PPP parliamentary candidate candidate-elect pledged to continue to excite them to work for the party’s victory this year.
