Young Constable Promoted For His Bravery In Melcom Tragedy

Constable Nester Aneateba of the Ghana Police Service has been promoted to the rank of full Corporal.
The promotion comes on the heels of President John Mahama?s directive that the young police officer is rewarded for his bravery at the site of the Melcom disaster.
The President commended the ?display of exemplary bravado? by Nester Aneateba ?in rescuing 14 victims trapped after the collapse of the Achimota Melcom Building in Accra? and asked the Police Administration to deservingly reward him.
The 27 year old officer was part of the heavy police personnel deployed to rescue the victims trapped in the disaster. Upon reaching the site, he bravely entered the wreckage of the collapsed Melcom building at the detriment of his life to rescue 14 affected persons.
He sustained various degrees of injuries in his audacious effort.
A statement from the? Director-General Administration, Rose Bio Atinga said ?In compliance with the directives of the president, the police administration has with effect from today 8th November, 2012 promoted No. 44831 General Constable Nester Aneateba from the rank of a Constable to the rank of a full Corporal.”
The statement advised other officers to emulate the courage shown by the Corporal.
