The USA Poultry and Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) and U.S. Soy completed their seventh National Training Program and Chicken Cooking Competition in Accra on June 18, 2025.

The three-day initiative engaged ninety culinary students from nine Ghanaian technical universities, focusing on techniques for preparing U.S. poultry and egg products.

According to USAPEEC’s program outline, the first two days featured hands-on workshops at Labadi Beach Hotel. Participants learned poultry deboning methods and applications for processed egg products under New York Chef David Bonom and Ghanaian Chef Ines.

A demonstration by Ghana’s “Chef of the Year” Isaac Akwetey highlighted career pathways. The initiative included a donation of poultry to Accra’s Osu Children’s Home.

The final day hosted a cooking competition requiring starter and main dishes featuring U.S. chicken leg quarters alongside mystery box ingredients.

Ho Technical University students Salifu Anyogbire Sherifatu and Addoh King Jones won with an Indian-inspired terrine, earning trophies, cash prizes, and internships. Accra and Tamale Technical Universities placed as runners-up. All participants received certificates and kitchen equipment for their institutions.

USAPEEC’s Rose Queiroz praised participants’ creativity, noting the program develops “future culinary leaders.” Chef Bonom encouraged continued experimentation, while Chef Akwetey emphasized perseverance in professional growth.

The training aligns with Ghana’s efforts to expand technical education under the Education Ministry’s current strategic framework.
