A Zamfara Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded three men in prison custody for alleged conspiracy and culpable homicide.

The accused, Abubakar Garba, 30; Rilwanu Sarkin-fawa, 25; and Sufiyanu Sarkin-fawa, 23, are all residents of Fasara village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Daniel Longwal, told the court that on Aug. 15, one Umaru Maga of Fasagora village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara, reported the case at the Bukkuyum police station.

Longwal said that on the same date, one Kiruwa Bawa and his son-in-law, Shehu, were returning home when the accused persons and three others, now at large, attacked them.

He further said that the accused and their gang armed themselves with sticks and beat up Bawa and Shehu.

The prosecutor said that as a result of the beating, they both were injured which resulted to Shehu’s death on the spot.

He added that the offence contravened sections 97 and 22 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Hajiya Rabi Bashir, remanded the accused and adjourned the case to September 3 for further mention.
