
Fresh violence is reported to have rocked the Buipe township between the Lebu and Jinapor royals with five people reportedly shot.
The violence is said to have started at about 12 pm on Thursday at a community called Yipala near the Buipe toll bridge.
It is not clear what necessitated the latest violence, but the Assembly man for Buipe electoral area, Hon. Abubakari Yussif attributed it to preparations towards this year’s Damba festival.
According to him, the casualties have been rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
He said one of them Sulemana Alhassan was shot in the chest and is in critical condition.
Hon. Sualisu De-Awuribe, the District Chief Executive of Buipe confirmed the situation but said he was returning home from one of the satellite communities.
