AS THE People’s National Convention marks 20 years of its
registration as a political party in Ghana, the Upper East
Regional Secretariat of the party, has called on the national
leadership to ensure the PNC continues to uphold the
Nkrumah-Egala-Limann tradition which respected human rights and the rule of law.

According to the PNC Regional Secretariat, the
Nkrumah-Egala-Limann tradition has never tolerated or used violence to achieve its political objective hence the need to uphold the tradition and condemn all parties that have directly or indirectly tolerated and encouraged violence and inflammatory language.

The regional secretariat raised these concerns in a statement signed by Regional Secretary, Henry Fatchu issued to the media in Bolgatanga to commemorate the anniversary.
According to the secretariat, the PNC has contributed to many national debates on providing and improving the socio–economic needs of Ghanaians which have resulted in the implementation of some national policies, including the GET-FUND, National Health Insurance Scheme and School Feeding Programme which have brought a lot of
development and comfort to many Ghanaians.

“Our great party since its existence has offered friendship and
co-operation to all political parties in Ghana in order to ensure
that democracy thrives in the country. This cannot be taken away from us as a good achievement. Finally, it is our belief that all political parties in Ghana will ensure that there is peace in the country during this year’s general election scheduled for December 2012. We also call for campaigns and an election that will be peaceful and organized in a transparent and fair manner,” the statement said.
