The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Samuel Atta Kyea, has dismissed reports by the Daily Post newspaper with the screaming headline “Akufo-Addo’s Macho men destroying voters’ registration at Kyebi.”
In a press statement issued in Accra yesterday, Hon. Atta Kyea angrily described the story which was carried in their Wednesday 11, April 2012 edition as wicked and absurd, stressing that the allegation confirms the diabolical agenda that “let Nana Akufo-Addo look bad so President John Atta Mills looks good on the faces of Ghanaians.”
“I do not know whether the Daily Post is one of the NDC-rented newspapers but I am bold to say that the story is totally false. I have personally monitored the biometric voter registration exercise in the Akyem Abuakwa South Constituency. It has been extremely peaceful and has virtually rendered the police who man the registration centers redundant,” he explained.
Hon Atta Kyea dared anyone who doubted his explanation in debunking the report, to personally verify from the police Commander and the District Chief Executive of the area.
He explained that Nana Akufo-Addo has no macho men either imported or stationed at Kyebi, stressing that Nana Akufo- Addo was so politically savvy that he will not permit the use of his premises as the abode of macho men.
“No Akyem perceived to be NDC has been harassed since the biometric registration started. When the Daily Post projects that Kyebi has more casualties, as a result of the registration exercise, it is their own invention and a vicious lie,” he argued.
He surmised that targeting Kyebi for shame is a diversionary tactics, by those who cannot stop telling lies from focusing attention on the proven mayhem and the Castle-induced fear at the instance of theNDC parliamentarians and that of the parliamentary candidate of Odododiodio constituency, Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
He noted that destroying whatever is connected to Nana Akufo Addo will not add to the electoral fortunes of President Mills.
