The Methodist Health Centre captured as NDC government project. Inset Foundation stone plaque of the health centre
Due to the abysmal performance of National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the last four years, it has resorted to crude machinations including claiming credit for projects undertaken by churches and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
In one of such political chicaneries to win power at all cost, two key members of the NDC in the Bosomtwe District, Dr. Joe Oteng-Adjei and Edward Nti Berko, NDC parliamentary candidate and District Chief Executive (DCE) respectively have listed the Brodekwano Methodist Health Centre as a government project to win votes.
Dr. Oteng-Adjei, who doubles as the Energy Minister, incurred the displeasure of the Brodekwano Methodist Church of Ghana as a result of his conduct.
The move has also generated furor among workers of the Brodekwano Methodist Health Centre, who are threatening legal action against Dr. Oteng-Adjei and his counterpart, Edward Nti Berko if they fail to remove the health centre from the list of health sector projects purported to have been undertaken by the district.
Vincent De Paul, Physician Assistant of the Health Centre told DAILY GUIDE that the facility was not constructed by the NDC government as captured in its ?Public Exhibition? leaflet being distributed across the constituency.
According to him, the health centre was put up by the Methodist Church to serve the people of the community and its environs.
?We demand from Dr. Joe Oteng-Adjei and the DCE to provide the cost of the building, the building plan, and evidence of sod-cutting and inaugural ceremonies regarding the construction of the health centre. We will have no option than to institute an action in court against them should they fail to do this in three days,? he noted.
The Physician Assistant, who was flanked by his accountant, Kwasi Odame and secretary, said management of the health facility cannot fathom why the DCE and Dr. Oteng Adjei are claiming credit for a project they did not execute.
He explained that the foundation stone of the health centre was laid by the church?s former Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nuh Ben Abubeka, who was assisted by Rev. Samuel Adjei Boafo, Superintendent Minister of Brodekwano Circuit and the chief of the community, Nana Akwasi Acheampong.
