Lawmaker calls for premanent deployment of security agents at Nasarawa, Benue border

A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Anthony Obande, (PDP-Doma South), has urged the federal and Nasarawa State Governments to deploy security agents at border communities between Benue and Nasarawa  States.
He said that permanent deployment of security agents along the borders of the two states would curb to frequent clashes between Fulani herdsmen and Tiv farmers.
Obande made the call on Wednesday in Lafia in an interview. ?I am also calling on the federal and the State Government to station permanent security posts in towns bordering the state with Benue and others states of the federal to curtail frequent attacks on border towns by unknown gunmen.
?The stationing of security posts in borders will help in curtailing the rate of attack on borders as well as well reduce the rate of crime in the state.”
The lawmaker noted with concern that border towns in the state were attacked by unknown gunmen, resulting to loss of lives and destruction of property.
?Yesterday, we lost so many lives in Rukubi Ward in my constituency. It is uncalled-for, barbaric and ungodly for people to take arms against their fellow human beings.
?I am calling on the people of my constituency, particularly those at Rukubi Ward to remain calm and be law-abiding for the overall development of the area and the state at large.
Obande appealed to the populace to eschew violence and embrace peace in the interest of development of the state and the country, expressing regret over reports of communal crisis in some parts of the state since January this year.
According to him, dialogue is the best option to resolving grievances, adding that no society can develop in an atmosphere of rancour.
Obande advised residents of the state to channel their grievances to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
