Schools in the Kofi Kwei Circuit of the Ga South Municipality have held an Open Day to allow parents, guardians and stakeholders to interact with teachers and school authorities on the performance of pupils.
The programme, which was attended by about 600 parents and individuals, was spiced with cultural and literary displays such as kpanlogo dance, playing of talking drums and recitation of poems.
In his address Mr Joseph Sackey, the Circuit Supervisor for Kofi Kwei, commended parents and stakeholders for their support and cooperation with the schools that had resulted in improved academic performance.
Mr Sackey also expressed his gratitude to teachers for their regular school attendance and performance at school, saying, ?Teacher absenteeism is no more a major issue in this circuit. Majority of our teachers now stay in the area and they are doing very well.”
Mr Paa Alidu Sulley, the Headmaster of Odumprala Basic School, also thanked parents and teachers for their support and hard work and said “Any time we call on the chiefs, elders, executives of the Parent/Teacher Association and School Management Committee, they are always there for us as a school. Their support is what has brought us this far and I am most grateful”.
He appealed to them to assist by renovating the dilapidated headmaster’s bungalow and by providing learning materials such as textbooks, computers and laboratory equipment for science lessons.
Mr Abdallah Sackey, chairman of the Odumprala Parent/Teacher Association, praised teachers for their show of professionalism and intellectual competence in the discharge of their duties.
“We can see that our children can now read well, speak good English, write well and behave well. We thank all teachers for their help and we want to assure you that we will also continue to support you,? he said.
