Several Mozambican civil society groups have warned of the possibility of further violence during election period, especially after the announcement of the results.

At a joint press conference, the Youth Parliament, the Human Rights League and the Centre for Public Integrity (CIP) demanded that the political parties respect the law and refrain from any act that violates the law.
There is a general feeling that the level of violence could rise next week, if any of the parties refused to recognise the elections results. It is worth noting that all three main political parties are likely to react with violence.
