President Goodluck Jonathan has been described as the nation?s beacon of democratic norms and principles.
Senator Ibrahim Mantu noted that Jonathan meant so many positive things to many Nigerians, but that the greatest of all was that he guarantees social liberty and freedom. That it was the bedrock of democracy to thrive in any forward looking society.
According to him, ?it?s only one with the level headed disposition of President Jonathan that would tolerate all the invectives many have been pouring on him, without suffering unimaginable dire consequences?.
Mantu who spoke at the national rally at Minna, Niger state yesterday organized by a group under the aegis of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria(TAN), monitored on television in Awka, said the situation in the country could have been worse, but for the tact and suave disposition of Jonathan. He therefore urged all men of goodwill in the country to join in the appeal to the President to seek renewal of his mandate in the 2015 general elections.
He thanked TAN for offering a peaceful platform to showcase the numerous achievements of Jonathan that had been consciously or subconsciously overlooked.
The group had been hosting rallies in the six different geopolitical zones of the country to showcase Jonathan and as a groundswell to urge him to seek reelection in 2015.
About 9milliom signatures of electorates have so far been collected by the group in support of Jonathan?s re-election bid.
