The Ghana Police Service has launched a comprehensive nationwide security operation for the Easter holiday period, with the Kwahu enclave placed under heavy surveillance as authorities move to protect the thousands of revellers expected to descend on the area this weekend.

In a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate on Thursday, April 2, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of Public Affairs, Deputy Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Service said robust measures had been put in place to ensure a safe, peaceful, and incident-free celebration.

Police personnel have been deployed across all key locations nationwide, with particular focus on the Kwahu enclave, including event grounds, recreational centres, and known tourist sites, as well as other areas expected to experience high human and vehicular traffic.

The Service has also intensified patrols, with operational teams positioned along major routes leading to and from Kwahu. Motor traffic personnel have been deployed to manage congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement throughout the period.

Beyond visible policing, intelligence operations have been activated across the country to prevent and respond swiftly to any criminal activity.

At the local level, the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive confirmed a substantial deployment. Over 1,000 police personnel will be strategically stationed throughout the municipality, with the Ghana National Fire Service on high alert for fire outbreaks, the Immigration Service monitoring critical checkpoints, and the National Ambulance Service deployed to provide emergency medical care.

The 2026 Kwahu Easter celebrations are expected to be the biggest yet, with activities including street carnivals, musical concerts, nightlife events, cultural performances, and traditional displays spread across various towns in the Kwahu area.

The Police Service urged the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and adhere to all safety guidelines. Motorists were specifically cautioned to observe road traffic regulations, avoid excessive speeding, and refrain from drunk driving.
