President of Global network Pierre Jacquet on Wednesday said Ghana has instituted various measures to strengthen its natural resources but there are many challenges in the systems as a way of finding long term solutions to the problem of weak institutional capacities and government ineffectiveness.

In an address to news men during the opening of a three-day global conference on structural transformation in Africa, Mr Pierre Jacquet said the conference aims to gather the world leading researchers, policy makers and political figures on common platform where they can share ideas for social and economic development
The conference is under the theme: ?structural transformation in Africa and beyond?.
The conference is expected to provide participants with the opportunity to share their rich experiences and develop a framework for Africa’s transformation . He observed that the GDN has been of an immense benefit to countries, including Ghana, and called on African nations to ?use this excise to resolve the fundamental systemic weaknesses in their economies by finding long term solutions to the problem of our weak institutional capacities ?.
The conference will offer opportunity for a better understanding of the nature and prospects of structural transformation in Africa, drawing on insights from other esperiences around the world.
With 7 plenary and 22 parallel sessions the conference will be structured around three sub themes.
Determinants of growth, industrial and trade policies,
environmental sustainability , management of natural resources and structural transformation and
political, institutional, social and governance transformation.
Nigerian minister of Finance , Ngozi Okojio -Iweala will give the final key note address on the conclusion day of June
Other speakers will include Ernest Ayeety of the university of Ghana and John Page of BROOKINGS INSTITUTION
