The EC assured the affected electorates that new voter ID cards would be issued to them.

The Commission explained that the irregularities were due to operators’ errors, which were quickly rectified as soon as they were detected.
It said the correction process would be complete when the data captured was exported to the database, following which the new cards would be issued to them.
In a statement to the Ghana News Agency, signed by Mr Amadu Sulley, the EC’s Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations, said the error occurred in only two out of the 3,500 registration centres that were in operation nationwide.
The statement said it occurred at the Boko R/C Primary (F110101) in the centres at Atwima-Kwanwoma District and the Methodist Park (F130702A) at Asouyeboa – Kwadaso.
The errors affected 13 and 18 applicants, respectively, at the respective registration centres.
It explained that of the first day of the Limited Biometric Voter Registration Exercise, the date recorded on the cards of the affected persons turned out to be 27/04/2016 instead of 28/04/2016.
The Commission expressed gratitude to the people in the affected areas for their understanding and cooperation, which it said, ensured that the exercise continued smoothly after the detection and rectification of the errors.
