Ben Iroha, a former Super Eagles defender, on Wednesday said that the Super Eagles will defeat the Warriors of Namibia in their Nations Cup/World Cup qualifier match on June 3.

Iroha said that with the calibre of professional players complementing the home-based Eagles’, victory is assured.

“With the arrival of professional players, I believe that we will be able to defeat the Warriors of Namibia,” he said.

Godfrey Esu, former coach of Crown FC, Ogbomoso, also said that he was sure of a victory over the Warriors of Namibia because of the results of the recent friendly matches of the Eagles.

“I believe the Super Eagles have been able to use the various friendly matches played as a testing ground ahead of the various qualifiers to ensure victories,” he said.

“Although, they did not win them all, they still have a good chance of been victorious in the Namibia game.”

The former coach appealed to the government to give the needed attention to the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) because of its investment possibility.

“It is one industry, whose potentials are being ignored, which will not just gainfully employ youths but serve as means of revenue for the government,” Esu said.

“Corporate sponsors will definitely invest in the NPL if it is well organised by the authorities concerned.”

The coach noted that the league was yet to meet international standard and appealed to the media to assist in its development.

The next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled for 2013.

Twelve home-based players have been invited to camp in Calabar to play alongside the foreign-based ones.

Nigeria will take on Rwanda after the match against Namibia in the AFCON qualifiers.
