DCE under Fire Over ?chop chop?

The caretaker District Chief Executive of Amansie West District, Charles Oti Prempeh, has come under intense fire from members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his area for allegedly squandering GH?10,000 meant for the ?re-engineering? of the party?s support base in the area.

Mr. Oti Prempeh is also said to have ignored directives to pay 10 per cent of all contracts awarded in the district to the party?s coffers and ?sat on all of them.?

These were some of the allegations stated in a statement read on behalf of the NDC members in the district by their spokesperson, Richmond Kesse, at a press conference to ask President John Dramani Mahama why he must not re-nominate Mr. Oti Prempeh as their DCE.

The group swearing to reject the caretaker DCE should he be re-nominated by the president maintained that nothing but the dismissal of [Mr. Oti Prempeh] from office will persuade them to change their stance.

According to Mr. Kesse, Mr. Charles Oti-Prempeh has since his appointment as DCE showed ?arrogance and bad faith? towards party members.

?This is a man who from his assumption to the office of DCE never regarded party activities, especially meetings. He does not care about how the party is being run in the constituency,? he stated amid shouts of ?it?s true, it?s true? from his colleagues.

He noted that what made them feel much vindicated about their allegations about the DCE which complaints they began making long before the 2012 elections was when he totally ignored the party?s activities in the area during the elections and? impudently? used funds meant for party activities for his personal comfort.

?Knowing very well that party executives are appalled by his actions and defiant nature, and would make enquiries about the whereabouts of the GH?10,000, our DCE has intentionally absented himself from all party activities after the 2012 elections,? he alleged further.

Branch organizer, Edmund Asamoah, also alleged that the DCE was not a unifier and a good leader since he had always been divisive in his administration, describing his tactic as ?divide- and-rule tactics.?

He therefore cautioned that any plans by the Mahama administration to maintain him for the second term as the district?s head will spell doom for the party.

He said the Mr. Oti Prempeh is the cause of the party?s poor showing in the Amansie area, since he has not visited more than ten communities out of the 147 communities scattered in the area.
