Czech police have completed a probe into alleged match-fixing in lower leagues in 2013, with 25 people – officials and referees – under suspicion.
Police said on Wednesday in a statement that five of them are suspected of paying bribes, and the other 20 accepting money to fix lower league games between May and November 2013.
The authorities said that several thousand crowns (1,000 crowns = 41 dollars) are believed to have been paid to fix at least 10 games. Neither individuals nor clubs were identified.
Police said its files have been sent to a district prosecutors office which will decide on charges. If convicted, those who paid bribes face up to two years in prison, and those who took bribes up to four years.
