The 10 per cent voluntary pay cut by the President and his appointees has yielded more than GH?300,000.

The amount is expected to be used to build Community-based Health and Planning Systems (CHPS) compounds in the country. This forms part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2012 manifesto promise to double the number of CHPS compounds from 1,600 to 3,200.

Mr Seth Terkper , Minister for Finance , announced the plan by President John Mahama and his appointees to voluntarily have 10 per cent of their salaries deducted for the purpose of building CHPS compounds in November last year .

Mr Terkper was expected to disclose the details of the total amount of proceeds realised from the deduction yesterday but he could not do so due to the fact that he was outside the country.
