Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has backed Arsenal Football Club to win the Premier League title this season, praising manager Mikel Arteta’s progress in an interview with former United defender Rio Ferdinand.
The Brazilian, a five-time UEFA Champions League winner with Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, said the race for the title is tighter than it appears and that Arteta’s side have the quality to go all the way.
“Of course, it’s too close, it’s too close,” Casemiro said when pressed on whether Arsenal can clinch the league this season.
The 33-year-old also drew a parallel with Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, noting that even a squad featuring Lionel Messi and Neymar could not overcome a Madrid side driven by collective purpose. His point was clear: belief and identity win titles, not just talent.
Casemiro stopped short of ruling out a next-season outcome, acknowledging that if the title does not come now, Arteta’s sustained build at the Emirates makes the Gunners strong contenders beyond this campaign.
The comments add notable weight to the title conversation, coming from a player who has won domestic and European honours at the highest level.
Arsenal currently sit among the front runners in the Premier League table as the season approaches its conclusion.
