The American Embassy issues an alert of a possible Boko Haram attack
The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has issued an emergency warning to its citizens that a racial Islamist sect may be planning attacks on hotels in Abuja.
The embassy issued the warning Wednesday morning, saying it “has received information that Boko Haram may be planning attacks including against hotels frequently visited by Westerners.”
The warning said the U.S. had no further information and that Nigeria’s government is aware of the threat.
This is the second time the U.S. has issued such a warning. In November, the U.S. warned about a possible hotel attack in Abuja, which the Federal Government widely dismissed.
