The Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has again assured the people of Okigwe senatorial zone of the state, his total commitment and readiness to offer first class services at the national level if given the opportunity to represent the people at the senate in the next year?s general elections.
Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, who was speaking yesterday at his Umuihi country home during the formal signing of his senatorial nomination forms by the officials and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, hinted that his aspiration was propelled by the needed change and quality leadership, people of the zone had been clamoring for, declaring that the period to introduce the desirable change was now.

He asserted that he has fulfilled all the promises he made to his people during the 2011 electioneering campaign and promised to set a standard for federal representation in the zone if elected to represent the zone in the red chambers of the National Assembly.
The speaker further stated that the essence of representation is to positively impact on the lives of the people, as against the widely acclaimed notions of the former administrations in the state that there were no enough financial resources to further address the challenges of the people, stressing that he would use his portfolio as a senator, if elected to correct such wrong notions and work for the people.
He however, debunked insinuations making the rounds that a particular political party has perfected plans to induce the electoral umpires and rig the forthcoming elections in their favour, adding that such deceptive mechanism does not hold any water, as the people of the zone who desperately needed change were now wiser, and as well, ready to vote with their full conscience and also defend their votes.
According to him, ?It is however, irrefutable to state that there is an earnest desire among our people for change. This change is further translated in their ability to freely choose over who will oversee their affairs and not the kind of manipulative kites some persons have been flying around?.
The Speaker, further restated his confidence and believe in the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to deliver on its mandate of conducting free, fair and credible election in line with widely accepted global best practices, adding that the credibility of the Commission would soar greatly if it allows the collective wishes of the people to prevail during the polls.
