? Turning Back the Hands of Time Through Unforgettable Memories
???????????????????? At the? Gates? Of? KuKu Hill?? , Osu? Ghana????? 1972
?
?????? ??????????????????????????????
As I stood with my Family at? the Gate,? memories flooded in
I wondered how We Have ?handled the hand fate had dealt us.
We Often ?search high and low along lonely roads for these treasured memories.
And soon we are ushered to that special place for those ?unforgettable ?memories,
And yet there was no one to greet me. Family nor Friends,
Lord have I been waiting this long to get here?
God forgive me if I cry, these Blues I feel. This Loneliness.
Mother nature had taken control with the power of nature
As I looked out far into where the sunny blue skies touched the horizon.
And now I felt like a wounded bird
Weathered and choked by the medley of sun and rain and time.
The mango trees we Planted ?were dead, Even the coconut trees
And the cashews that used to hang like chandeliers were no more.
God forgive me if I cry
Strangers and Squatters , broken shutters, and ?open windows,
The Acacia plants now growing ?close but majestically to the House.
And Looking at the Old? and now ?empty water tower I lost my sense of place
As I attempted to dig up the jewels we buried somewhere beneath after the War
Mostly gold and diamonds, our juvenile minds did not understand them.
Frightened and confused, I stood there.
Lord Knows I have waited too long to get here;
God forgive me if I cry.
For All Those Who Return? ?Home ??And ?Find? Home Is Just A Memory .
