Cape Town is the second most populated city in South Africa. Despite its high population count Cape Town is by far one of the best tourist hot spots that you should visit.

There are a number of top tourist spots that you should consider visiting during your vacation. Top tourist attractions include:

  • Table Mountain
  • The Cape Peninsula
  • Robben Island

Table Mountain

Table Mountain is a flat topped mountain that provides a breathtaking view of Cape Town, and adventurous tourists can check out the view by hiking to the top of the mountain. This isn?t a hike for the fainthearted, but the trek is well worth the energy and exertion, because the views from the top are truly spectacular.

The sea breeze carries across the top of the mountain, providing a rich experience that will satisfy the sense. If you like the idea of the experience but loathe the idea of the hike then don?t worry, you can always catch a cable car to the top.

This is another great location for the adventurous tourist. Take a trip to Table Mountain National Park and see the sights offered by the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. If your vacation is during the spring or the summer then you may catch a glimpse of the Southern Right Whales. No matter what time of the year that you visit you should definitely take a trip to see the colony of African penguins.

Robben Island

Robben Island is an incredible tourist attraction, with a fascinating history. The island is famous for a number of reasons, but perhaps the reason it draws so many tourists is because it was the prison were Nelson Mandela was kept during his imprisonment.

Exploring the prison offers a highly informative and extremely personal insight into day to day life at the prison, especially as many of the tour guides are ex-political prisoners themselves. As well as being used as a prison, the island has been used as a training base, a mental hospital and a leper colony.

Oudtshoorn is home to the Garden Route ? which is a route that takes walkers through a number of nature preserves. The route starts by providing access to a number of nature reserves, which are now the homes to a number of wild animals. Walk past the nature reserves and you?ll quickly find the marine reserves.

This is a perfect day trip for any and all animal lovers, as you can expect to see an array of wildlife, including birds, dolphins, seals and if you are really lucky and you visit at the right time (between July and December) you may even see whales. This is the kind of location that you can easily spend two or three days exploring.

Phalaborwa is the home to The Kruger National Park, and this is another destination that will appeal to animal lovers. This incredible and breathtaking reserve is rich in both natural wildlife and plant life. During your visit you can expect to see a huge variety of trees, fish, amphibians and reptiles, birds and mammals. It is by far one of the most beautiful and diverse animal sanctuaries in the region.

Krugersdorp is not far from Johannesburg, and it is the home to an extraordinary set of complex caves that are known as The Cradle of Humankind.

If you are a lover of science and history then you?ll thoroughly appreciate this particular location. Throughout this series of caves scientists have discovered some fascinating fossils that have been linked to the very early days of the human race. Fossils that are millions of years old have been found at this location, making it a hit with both locals and tourists.
