Madam Beatrice Serwaa Derkyi, Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu, has called on the youth to rededicate themselves and channel their energies into activities that would benefit society and improve their livelihoods.

She said the youth needed to renew their minds and commit themselves to hard work, discipline, respect for authority, peaceful coexistence and patriotism, which were essential not only for their own personal growth and development, but their communities.

Madam Serwaa Derkyi said this when she addressed a parade of school children, security agencies and some identifiable youth groups to mark the 62nd Independence Day Anniversary at Ejisu on Wednesday.

She said it is time the youth recommitted themselves by putting their energies and exuberance into productive ventures to promote the speedy growth and development of the country.

They should also eschew negative behaviours, heed the counsel of their teachers and trainers, while focusing on their chosen endeavours to achieve whatever vision they have in life.

Madam Serwaa Derkyi expressed dismay at the growing acts of indiscipline in the form of hooliganism, vigilantism, kidnapping and the use of hard drugs among the youth in the society.

She called on the general public to help the security agencies in its efforts to maintain peace, law and order in the area by exposing and giving out information on people engaged in any illegal activity.
