Former Secretary to the government of Osun state, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, on Friday revealed his motives for dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pursue his governorship ambition in Labour Party (LP).
Akinbade, was a former state chairman of the PDP in 2003, when the party won the governorship election in the state and was subsequently appointed as secretary to the Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola led government.
He described the PDP as a “sinking ship.”
Addressing his supporters at the state headquarters of Labour Party in Osogbo on Friday, Akingbade officially declared his intention to contest Osun 2014 governorship poll on the platform of the party, he said PDP believes in politics of hooliganism and thuggery, while he detests engaging in acts that can endanger lives of fellow human beings.
“I left PDP because it is a sinking ship.
The party believes so much in thuggery and manipulation, but those who know my antecedence in politics will know that I detest thuggery, manipulation and harming fellow human beings.
“Let unity of purpose be our watch-word in Labour Party and let us unite to free Osun state. Let us not vote for those who have mis-ruled the state for 7years, but let us vote for LP in the coming election,” he said.
