Interested participants can attend this webinar series on risk reporting offered by the National Press Foundation.

The series consists of three courses: “Scary Statistics: Understanding Risk for Journalists,” “Conceptualizing Risk” and “Communicating Risk.”

The first webinar will be broadcast January 17 at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Course instructor George Mason University’s Rebecca Goldin (.pdf) will address topics including absolute vs. relative risk, correlation vs. causation and the concept of randomness.

The other two courses will air January 24 and January 31.
