Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, has stated that he was not bothered confronting the Pharaoh’s of Egypt with his home-based boys, stressing that the important thing is that he needs the international friendly encounter billed for the month of April so much.
Speaking to the media in Abuja over the weekend, the Eagles’ gaffer who is currently undergoing a CAF B-Licence Coaching Course, said he would have loved the Egyptians to field their own home-based players, quipping that unlike Nigeria, majority of the national team players were based at home.
“I hope they are equally bringing their home-based players too. The issue is not whether I’m comfortable with the friendly. The friendly is about preparing our boys and exposing them as much as we can because the month of June is going to be very tough. We have three important games in three weeks. The friendly is good and a good thing,” he said.
Asked if there would be new faces in the home-based players to prosecute the Egypt friendly, the former Hawks of Togo, said that though he has not taken final decision on the invitation of players, he might invite only one or two players he has discovered watching the league due to the short period of the game.
“It is true that I have discovered new players when I went to watch league matches, but because of the short period for the game, I’m sure I will have a lot of new players to join the ones I have been using. I will try to keep the main ones because they already know what we are trying to do, however, I might add one or two new faces,” he said.
