The West African Insurance Institute (WAII) might have declared a war against its immediate past principal and a Nigerian, Prof. Mike Ikupolati.
The Nigerian was recently stripped-off of his plum job as a result of offences ranging from sexual escapades/harassments against his students, teachers and even some Gambian Nationals.
Deluge of petitions against Prof. Ikupolati were forwarded to the Gambian President Yahya Jamen who did not waste time in ordering the detention of the embattled principal and proper investigation of the alleged offences.
The Professor after gaining his freedom was said to have sneaked back to Nigeria, but sources said he was still being hunted for in Gambia to answer other related offences and the assistance of the International Police (Interpol) might be sought to bring the randy academician back to Gambia.
The chartered Insurance Institute (CII) of London that have been maintaining a Professional collaboration with WAII is said to be having a second thought as it has threatened to severe every relations with the institute until it regains its academic relevance.
A replacement is said to be on the front burner of the institute?s board of Governors who were said to have met three times to consider candidates shortlisted for the job with the latest meeting held in Accra-Ghana.
The embattled principal was said to have been on the top job for the past eleven years, which was said to be odd as normal tenure ought not to be more than ten years.
IKUPOLATI disgraced out of WAII
Every day they said is for the thief but a day is for the owner as the days of Prof Mike Ikupolati as the principal of West African Insurance Institute (WAII) is over as he has been pushed out of office.
His offence ranged from examination malpractices, sexual harassment of students, teachers and even Gambia citizens amongst other malfeasances.
President of the Gambia, Yahya Jamen piqued about the offences catalogued in the myriads of petition sent to his desk ordered the arrest of the embattled principal around July and ordered his detention for about two months.
The board of the governing council of the College did not allow Ikupolati to resume work after his detention ordeal even though; a replacement has not been named.
The board last met in Accra-Ghana and it was gathered that a replacement might have been agreed upon which would be announced any moment from now.
