Vodafone Wholesale, a subsidiary of Vodafone Ghana, has an awards and dinner event aimed at honoring five of its customers for their loyalty and contribution towards the growth of Vodafone Wholesale.
The initiative, which started in 2012, is an event which brings major Internet Service Providers (ISP) and mobile network operators business together.
Mr. Julius Nkansah Owusu- Kyeremanten, Managing Director for Vodafone Wholesale, said its clients were creative and had the zeal to drive businesses, adding that ?you are able to achieve your objectives?.
He said the industry needed more collaboration, therefore there was a need to build enough strategic partnershipto help open up the market.
Mr. Owusu- Kyeremanten said Vodafone had increased the level of internet access in Ghana and across the sub-region through its dedication to meet the bandwidth need of Internet Service Providers and mobile network operators.
He told the GNA that Vodafone Ghana is a separate entity owned by Vodafone Ghana to provide holistic wholesale communication services across the country.
He said data penetration was nowhere closer to its expectation, therefore an enabling environment should be created to offer more data to businesses.
Mr. Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, CEO, Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, said Ghana might have reached 100 percent mobile penetrations but the most optimist figures for internet penetration is around 30 percent.
He said the 2012 report had Ghana at 2.6% and 113th out of 157 countries and 8th in Africa and added ?we are above the Africa average but below the average for developing countries.?
Mr Sakyi-Addo said this could be done by lowering cost for service providers so they could in turn lower cost to their clients and subscribers and that tax incentives and demand stimulation would have an enabling impact on productivity.
He commended Vodafone Wholesale Ghana for playing its role in providing reliable and cost-effective wholesale capacity to telecommunication companies and Internet Service Providers. GNA
