Hollywood actor Ving Rhames is back home and in good health after collapsing at a restaurant in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 29, in an incident that briefly alarmed fans and industry colleagues.
Rhames, 66, was taken to a nearby hospital after collapsing at his table at the Granville restaurant in North Hollywood. Witnesses at the scene said the actor appeared to drift in and out of consciousness before paramedics arrived. The Los Angeles City Fire Department confirmed that a medical aid call came in at approximately 1:40 p.m. for a male in his 60s, and the patient was transported to hospital for treatment.
His manager moved quickly to reassure the public. Brad Kramer told Variety that Rhames may have been overheated but now feels fine, and that he was discharged from hospital just hours after receiving treatment. Kramer added that the actor was in characteristic form throughout, saying: “He sounded like everyday Ving and cracked a joke over the phone.”
His representative confirmed he was released from hospital and heading home, and was said to be making jokes as he left.
Rhames is the only actor besides Tom Cruise to appear in all eight Mission: Impossible films, where he plays computer specialist Luther Stickell. His career spans decades of acclaimed performances, including a landmark role in Pulp Fiction. More recently, he appeared in the 2025 boxing film Uppercut and the miniseries Dope Thief.
No further details about his medical condition have been disclosed, and no timeline for a return to work has been announced.
