The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has called on well-meaning sons and daughters of Okigwe Senatorial Zone of the state to join the Progressive train of the All Progressive Congress, to?enable the zone benefit maximally from the developmental blueprint of the party.
Addressing a mammoth crowd that besieged the Ihitte-Uboma Council Headquarters, Isinweke, for the grand finale of the??local government inaugurations of the Okigwe People?s Political Movement, OPPM, in the zone, the Speaker, told the gathering that the total emancipation of the Okigwe People from the shackles of Political and economic stagnation was not negotiable as the Party was ever ready to restore the Confidence of the electorates in the institution of government.
Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, however, extolled the developmental giant strides of the Rescue Mission government of the Owelle Rochas Okorocha?s administration in the state, pointing out that Okigwe zone has benefitted immensely in the developmental initiative of his government despite the Zone?s inability to cast their votes for him during the 2011 governorship election in the state.
He further promised that people of the zone have resolved to reciprocate the benevolence of the Owelle led administration in the state through total support of policies and programmes enunciated by his government to move the state forward.
Responding, the visibly elated Governor Okorocha, remarked that the massive infrastructures scattered in the nooks and crannies of the state was as a result of his dire desire to rescue the state from the terrors of maladministration.
He lamented the status of the South East geo-political zone in the Political equation of the country, stressing that his decision for joining the APC was to correct the imbalance and injustice meted out to Ndigbo in the Scheme of things.
The Governor regretted that it was appalling that out of the Six most important positions in the administration of the Country, Ndigbo were conspicuously missing, even when relevant stakeholders from the zone show lack of concern to the plights of the people of the zone.
Governor Okorocha, also described Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, as a man of his words, adding that due to his robust and effective representation of the Ihitte-Uboma People in the State Assembly, the Speaker was able to attract Monumental Projects to his people to further deepen democracy in the area.
He further urged the people of the zone to cue into the leadership of Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu and continue in their massive support for their illustrious Son to enable him succeed in his quest to taking Okigwe zone to the Promised Land.
Earlier in an address, the co-ordinator of the Okigwe People?s Political Movement, OPPM, High Chief Tony Black Nduka, disclosed that the political movement was formed to galvanize support and end the political marginalization of the zone to sustain good governance.
He noted that the zone has not had it so good in the governance of the state despite parading some of the perceived strongest politicians in the state and thanked the Governor for his aggressive developmental efforts in the state and the zone in particular.
He also paid glowing tribute to the Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, maintaining that his benevolence, foresight and quest for the political renaissance of the Okigwe Zone initiated the formation of the Movement.
He further announced the integration of the Political Movement into the All Progressive Congress, APC, stressing that it was the only vehicle through which development could be extended down to the grass roots.
Highlights of the occasion were the formal inauguration and acceptance of the Political Movement into APC by the Party?s State Chairman, Chief Leo Ekeh, March-Pasts by different supports??groups and Cultural Dance displays.
