The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) reportedly sent multiple students off campus Wednesday for violating institutional dress standards.
Witness accounts indicate a task force moved through lecture halls during morning sessions, instructing students deemed “indecently” dressed to return home and change before rejoining academic activities.
This enforcement follows prior warnings about UPSA’s zero-tolerance dress policy. One affected student, speaking anonymously to local media, confirmed: “They told us to go back and change. Some weren’t allowed to enter lectures.” The university, which specializes in business and public administration education, has long emphasized professional conduct as core to its corporate readiness mission.
While UPSA has not issued an official statement, the incident has ignited campus discussions about institutional authority versus personal expression. Similar dress codes exist globally at institutions preparing students for regulated industries like finance, law, and governance. The move signals potential stricter compliance enforcement and may prompt broader dialogue on professional grooming standards in academic environments.
