Fatai-Rolling-DollarThree days after the burial of Highlife Musician, Fatai Olagunju (aka Rolling Dollar), more tributes have continued to pour in for the artiste.

In a statement on Saturday in Lagos, the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP) described Olagunju as a quintessential artiste.

Eki Eboigbe, the association?s Chairman said that Rolling Dollar had a passion for music.

The veteran highlife musician who died on Wednesday, June 12 at the age of 85 was buried on Thursday June 13.

Eboigbe noted that the arts community would miss him greatly for his contribution to the growth and development of the music industry and the art in general.

“Fatai Rolling Dollar was a major source of inspiration to younger musicians.

“He was a father, friend, colleague and close confidant to many of us.

“He was a man who, despite his fame and age, remained very modest till he passed on.? May his soul rest in peace,? Eboigbe said.

Chief Joseph Odobeatu, the Chairman of O’jez Entertainment Ltd., Lagos told newsmen that it was very sad to hear the news of the demise of the legend.

Odobeatu said that the O’jez family was still in shock because Rolling Dollar was very much part of the family for over 12 years.

“He had been with O’jez Entertainment Ltd. from inception at Iwaya, Yaba outlet, down to the National Stadium outlet.

“He’s been performing every Friday and every last Sunday of the month for over a decade now.

?It?s a big loss for us at O’jez and a bigger loss to the Nigerian entertainment industry,? Odobeatu said.

Odobeatu added that he was pained, but he had sought solace in the fact that he came, made his mark and left in a blaze of glory.
