Simba SC race to win the Mainland soccer title was yesterday reduced by nine-man underdogs Villa Squad who piped them 1-0 in Dar es Salaam.
It means that their archrivals Yanga will likely overthrow them in the pilot seat if they win by a wider margin in Wednesday’s match against Mtibwa Sugar.
Villa who were at the bottom in the 14-team league played with nine players in the last 25 minutes after referee Kennedy Mapunda had twice issued a red card against the side for rough play.
Nsa Job headed home for Villa in the 40th minute.
Before the header, Emmanuel Okwi missed a penalty for Simba when Villa goalie Daudi Mwasonge thwarted the shoot. The referee awarded the penalty to Simba after Mwinyi Kazimoto was roughed up in the danger zone.
