A wake in Mexico turned into a scene of chaos when two women discovered at the same funeral that they had both been in a relationship with the deceased man, leading to a physical confrontation directly over his coffin that has since gone viral online.
The incident took place at a wake in Veracruz, Mexico, where both women claimed to be the deceased’s partner before launching into a furious brawl beside the coffin. According to reports, suspicion was first raised when one of the women was overheard whispering a tender farewell at the casket, prompting the other woman present to confront her.
The situation quickly escalated. Dramatic footage shows the coffin lid nearly sliding off as the pair lunged at each other before being pulled apart by a bystander. At one point, one of the women grabbed a bouquet of funeral lilies while the other attempted to wrestle it back, with onlookers heard shouting in the background as the confrontation unfolded. A person dressed in black eventually intervened, grabbing one of the women by the shoulder in an attempt to restore calm.
The clip went viral on Instagram, accumulating more than 150,000 views and hundreds of comments. Social media users reacted with a mixture of disbelief and dark humour. Among the reactions, one commenter wrote: “They almost killed him again,” while another quipped: “He couldn’t stand either of them anymore and preferred to die.”
