Two people were killed and one was reported missing Wednesday after an explosion rocked a road and railway construction site in southern Norway, police said.
Two people were injured in the blast, one of whom was in serious condition. Police tweeted that a dynamite stick had apparently exploded without warning.
The accident occurred on the southern outskirts of Geilo, a mountain village halfway between the cities of Oslo and Bergen, where work was ongoing on an underpass under the railway, public broadcaster NRK reported.
After the blast, police closed off several roads near the site and train services were halted. Several houses within a 400-metre radius were evacuated and police closed off the airspace above the scene.
The victims of the blast have not been formally identified but were reported to be Norwegian nationals.
Five dogs from the Norwegian Search and Rescue Dogs unit were on standby to help search for the missing person.
