Running under the theme Omugongo, A Cut Above the Rest, the conference will also discuss how the industry can be made viable and sustainable.

In one of Namibia’s widely spoken languages, Oshiwambo, Omugongo is a shady tree where people can gather for meetings.
The conference that will be officially opened by Namibia’s mines minister Obeth Kandjoze is expected to be attended by various players in the industry.
Among the speakers is Zimbabwe’s mines minister Walter Chidhakwa, the Namibia Diamond Trading Company chief executive officer Shihaleni Ndjaba and the president of the Diamond Manufacturers Association of Namibia Burhan Seber as well as the Namibia Chamber of Mines president Kombadayetu Kapwanga.
The National Earth Science Museum that is run by the mines ministry will display pieces of the Shining Light Diamond Design Collection will be on display from Tuesday until Friday.
An exhibition titled The Heritage Journey that shows the process a diamond goes through will also be mounted during the conference.
This will be followed by the launch of a new edition of The Diamond Journey book compiled by the Diamond Board of Namibia. Enditem
