24-year-old Adegoke allegedly drugged and raped a 16-year-old girl
A 24-year-old man, Kehinde Adegoke, on Monday appeared before a Yaba Magistrate Court for allegedly defiling a minor.
Adegoke, a tutorial lecturer at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, is standing trial on a two-count charge of felony and having carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old girl.
The accused allegedly committed offence at about 10.30pm on May 25, 2012.
Victor Eruada, the police prosecutor, told the court that the accused invited the complainant to his apartment, where he drugged and defiled her.
Eruada said that the unidentified drug was put in the drink which Adegoke offered to the complainant.
“The complainant unknowingly drank it and fell asleep, after which Adegoke unlawfully had carnal knowledge of her,” he said.
The prosecutor argued that Adegoke contravened Sections 236 and 258 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State; however, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate S. Matepo granted Adegoke bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned to June 22, 2012 for mention.
