Tullow Oil triumphed in this year’s Vodafone Business Solution (VBS) Corporate Football challenge final at the Lizzy Sports Complex, after beating Standard Chartered Bank 1-0.
It was forward Edmund Duah’s second half strike that secured the giant trophy in the highly competitive soccer fiesta.
The bankers, who saw off L’Oreal West Africa 1-0 in the semis, fought tirelessly to redeem the slender lead in the final, but their opponents, who also beat TOR 1-0 in their penultimate game, withdrew more men to the rear to defend the only goal of the game.
Tullow’s Kwame Ompong Oti of Soccer Academy I fame scored seven goals to pick the top scorer prize in the four-week soccer fiesta, while Joseph Odoi was adjudged the Most Valuable Player.
The finalists were decorated with beautifully designed medals together with the trophies.
Head of VBS Derrick Appiah in an interview revealed that the competition realized its purpose of promoting healthy lifestyle, fun and networking among participants.
“It’s been a healthy four-week exercise. It has really served the purpose of networking, having great fun and above all promoting healthy lifestyles. We at VBS believe the adage ‘a sound mind living in a sound body.”
He commended all the participating teams, especially the finalists for a great job done.
