Following the deployment of more equipment and personnel on ground, the military at the weekend recorded a major success in its fight against insurgency in the country.
?This followed its successful interception of a truck made to be conveying cattle from Baga, which was also heavily loaded with concealed Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The military also arrested 15 suspects in connection with the high profile crime.?Baga is one of the hotspots of various attacks by members of the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram.
A military source in Maiduguri told our correspondent on telephone that the arrested suspects had disguised as cattle merchants from Camerounian border areas of Borno State and alleged that they were travelling to either Onitsha or Port Harcourt.
The source further said that the intercepted IEDs could have been devastating in any community if effectively detonated, adding however; ?We thank God for making us intercept the truck loaded with explosives with the intention to destroy lives and properties.?
