The Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) has officially sworn in a new set of 12 executive members to steer the affairs of the chapter.

The ceremony, held on Friday, March 27, 2026, doubled as the chapter’s general meeting and featured an orientation session led by seasoned party executives and government appointees, many of whom are former TEIN members.

The event was marked by a symbolic handover from the outgoing executives to the newly inducted leadership. Abubakari Muhammed, the Greater Accra Regional TEIN Coordinator who also serves as the Assembly Member for the Onyaasana Electoral Area,

administered the oaths of office and secrecy to the new executives.

In his address, Mr. Muhammed charged the new leaders to intensify their efforts to ensure the NDC wins all constituencies located within tertiary institutions, following the precedent set by their predecessors during the 2024 general elections. He assured members of postings to reputable organisations for their national service and urged them to remain studious.

“Take your academic activities seriously,” Mr. Muhammed advised, while encouraging students to leverage government initiatives such as scholarships and coding programmes.

The newly inducted President of TEIN

GCTU, Peter Ofori Yeboah, highlighted some early successes of his administration. Since taking office in November, he noted, the chapter has secured internship slots for 56 members at the Ghana Police Headquarters, with placements in the Cyber Crime Unit, IT Unit, and other departments.

“We have a whole lot of programmes and activities coming on board, including an industrial trip to Parliament House to engage with the Majority Caucus,” Mr. Ofori Yeboah stated. He called on his fellow members to support the leadership by showing readiness and availability in their numbers for all upcoming engagements.

Christian Tetteh Badger, the Municipal

Chief Executive (MCE), described the occasion as evoking fond memories, reflecting on his 33 years of experience working for the ruling NDC. He admonished the student leaders to respect the elderly in all their dealings, both on and off campus.

Advising against the pursuit of quick wealth, Mr. Badger cautioned the members to avoid loose talk and arguments that could lead to division and enmity. He urged them to work hard and maintain unity as they pursue their academic and political goals.

The newly sworn-in executives have been tasked with building on the legacy of their predecessors while fostering academic excellence and political engagement among the university’s NDC student base.
