The over 45 persons arrested in connection with the clashes between Mamprusis and Kusasis in Bazua in the BinduriDistrict of the Upper East region, have been granted bail.
The release was approved after victims of the attack failed to identify any of the arrested persons in an identification parade.
The suspects, who have been granted bail, will report to the Police on Monday, December 31.
The clash which reportedly started between two people at Bazua on Thursday was later extended to Bawku where members of the two ethnic groups attacked the other.
According to Bawku Police Commander, ACP KwakuBoaduPeprah, he suspects an attempt at a cover up in the case.
?It was intelligence that we gathered and we moved on it. We even went to one of the victims! What i have realised is that, later when they were in cells, i think their people visited them so i suspect that they spoke to them not to identify any of them. Because as we were screening them, a meeting was also going on at Bazua by their opinion leaders and the chief of Binduri.?
He however added that ?the Binduri chief and their elders came to me that they met both sides and they have all agreed to live in peace.??Citifmonline
