Residents in North Tongu’s Volta Region have apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in the killing of a cattle herder near Dorfor’s Alabota area.

The victim, a Fulani cattle herder, confronted the suspect after one of his animals was allegedly unjustly killed. According to Tse Jupiter Azietor, the area’s assemblyman, the suspect, identified as Seledzi Dotse, reportedly inflicted fatal machete wounds on the herder during the confrontation on Wednesday, July 17.

“After the suspect killed one of the cattle, the herder confronted him,” Azietor explained. “The altercation turned violent, resulting in the suspect fatally injuring the herder and fleeing the scene with part of his victim’s head.”

The suspect was later apprehended by community members and handed to local police authorities. Police have confirmed the incident and are investigating further.

“This is a tragic incident that has shocked the community,” Azietor added.
