Surrey Police in the United Kingdom have opened formal investigations into two separate allegations of historical child sexual abuse following the release of documents from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) linked to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The force confirmed on Tuesday that one investigation relates to locations in Surrey and Berkshire covering the period from the mid-1990s to 2000, while the second concerns West Surrey in the mid to late 1980s. No arrests have been made. The alleged victims are being interviewed by officers.

“We take all reports of sexual offending seriously,” the force said in a statement, adding that it would work to identify reasonable lines of enquiry to establish corroborating evidence.

Surrey is among several UK police forces that have been working together to assess potential crimes revealed across more than three million pages of documents linked to Epstein. The National Police Chiefs’ Council set up a national coordination group in February to support forces examining issues arising from the document release.

The Surrey investigations make the force the third in Britain to formally investigate alleged criminality emerging from the Epstein files. Thames Valley Police is examining separate allegations that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, passed confidential information to Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade envoy. Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on February 19, 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office and released the same day under investigation, meaning he has been neither charged nor exonerated. He has denied all wrongdoing. Thames Valley Police is also investigating allegations that a woman was trafficked by Epstein to the UK for a sexual encounter involving Mountbatten-Windsor.

King Charles stripped his brother of his royal titles in October in an effort to insulate the royal family from continuing revelations about the friendship with Epstein.

The Metropolitan Police is separately investigating Lord Peter Mandelson, the UK’s former Ambassador to the United States, over allegations of misconduct in public office after claims he forwarded confidential government information to Epstein while serving as Tony Blair’s business secretary. He has denied all wrongdoing.

Surrey Police is also reportedly examining claims that UK airports and military airfields were used for sex trafficking after concerns were raised by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, with Epstein’s flight logs showing his aircraft travelling to locations including Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, RAF Horsham and RAF Marham.
