Scotland have appointed Malky Mackay as interim manager for a friendly against the Netherlands next month while seeking a replacement for Gordon Strachan.
Mackay, the formerWatford, Cardiff and Wigan manager, will retain his role as the Scottish Football Association’sperformance director while taking interim charge for the November 9 match at Pittodrie, Aberdeen.
The 45-year-old former defender has been asked to lead the team for one match, Scottish FA chief executive Stewart Regan was reported as saying at a media conference.
Strachan had been in charge of the national squad since January 2013 but his tenure ended after Scotland missed out on a World Cup play-off place.
