Afwest International Security, a leading private security firm in Accra, has advised persons travelling this festive season to avoid posting information about their whereabouts on social media as it gives clues to criminals.
The management of the company says the public should be circumspect with the kind of pictures they post on social media because, ?Such pictures can make people with criminal intentions to track ones movement…?
Afwest International Security, stated this in a Christmas and New Year message, which spelt out some security and safety tips the public should pay attention to.
?It is important for well-meaning citizens not to relax their security and safety consciousness after the Christmas and New Year festivities, because security and safety concerns at home and commercial establishment must be an everyday activity,” it said.
The company said individuals should not see personal security and safety as the duty of public and private security institutions, adding Afwest security is keen on promoting security consciousness among Ghanaians and Africans in general to help reduce crime.
An administrator at Afwest, Nii Klotei, cautioned the public, especially those who engage in bank transaction using ATM cards to dispose of their receipts properly.
?People should not throw away their ATM cards transaction receipts just like any ordinary piece of paper. The criminals can attempt to use such ATM cards receipts to track account number details to commit financial crime,? he emphasised.
Mr George Quartey, an Area Commander of Afwest, also advised people against hiding keys in their flower pots or under doormats, since criminals have become aware of that.
