Standard Chartered Bank has opened a new state-of-the-art branch at the North Industrial Area in Accra.? This brings the number of branches the bank has nationwide to 22.
Executive Director of Consumer Banking, Andrew Okine, said the new branch is unique in several ways.
?This is a world-class branch; the treatment you get from this branch is the same you get from any of our branches in our strong markets in Singapore, Indonesia and other parts of Asia.
?It has a welcome-desk that has attendants directing you to the appropriate section of the bank. The flow of traffic is very different and customers have easy access to whichever service they require.
?The privacy that our customers have always craved is assured since financial consultants are ready to meet clients on a one-on-one basis,? he said.
Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Kweku Bedu-Addo, said the opening of the branch is another turning-point in the country?s history of banking.
?What we are witnessing today is another historic moment in the banking industry of Ghana since we introduced electronic and relationship management models into the country 15 years ago.??
He said the bank has refurbished and upgraded some other branches to world-class status and is aiming to double its branches by 2015.
He said the bank is a key participant in the economic progress of the country. ?Our sustainability has pulled us through the turbulent times, and we believe in the long-term growth of Ghana?s economy.?
Deputy Finance Minister, Francis Fiifi Kwetey who opened the new branch, lauded the bank?s contribution to growth of the economy.
?The bank has been instrumental in supporting growth of the economy, especially the oil and gas sector.
?With the opening of this branch, a lot of the unbanked population will be enticed to start banking and I believe StanChart has been doing well to get them on board.?
