Ghana’s Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) will launch a comprehensive virtual branch by September 2025, Director-General Kwesi Afreh Biney announced.
The digital platform aims to streamline pension services and enhance compliance, extending real-time support for contributions, statements, and registrations beyond physical offices.
Current digital adoption shows 76,454 Android app downloads, 25,400 on iOS, and 953 via Huawei. SSNIT’s ecosystem including USSD codes and online portals already enables remote transactions but will expand through bank partnerships for broader accessibility.
“We’re scaling digital tools to meet obligations conveniently,” Biney stated, noting monthly pensions to 257,000 retirees depend on sustained employer compliance.
Ghana Employers Association CEO Alex Frimpong urged intensified public education on digital benefits to drive engagement.
“Awareness fuels appreciation and compliance,” he emphasized, advocating proactive resolution of contributor concerns. The move aligns with Ghana’s broader 24-hour economy push, positioning SSNIT’s virtual services as critical infrastructure for formal sector inclusivity.
