FEPSGA and FCT SWAN organise jogging exercise ahead of Democracy Day

The Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) and the FCT Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will hold a jogging exercise on Saturday, May 26 in Abuja as part of activities for the Democracy Day celebrations.

Acting President of FEPSGA, Victor Orji, on Friday in Abuja said: “It is going to be a spectacular event that will help to add colour to this year’s Democracy Day celebrations in Abuja.”

Orji disclosed that the exercise, which is scheduled to start at 7a.m. at the training pitch of Abuja National Stadium, is an upgraded version of the monthly jogging exercise being organised by the federation.

The Democracy Day is celebrated every May 29, but a programme of other activities usually accompanies the event.

“The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has agreed to participate in the jogging exercise,” Orji said.

“He will lead all the Permanent Secretaries in his office to the event at the Abuja National Stadium. The Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mike Omeri, has also signified his participation. Other dignitaries such as heads of ministerial departments and agencies will also attend.”

Speaking also, the Chairman of FCT SWAN, Kayode Adeniyi, said his association decided to partner with FEPSGA to show that sports writers can also be in the forefront in sports organisation.

“We always report other people’s event, but this is our event. Therefore, SWAN members should show their commitment to make it a success,’’ he said.

The FCT SWAN chairman urged residents of Abuja and its environs to come out in large numbers to participate in the monthly jogging exercise.

He said their participation would benefit their health and well-being.
